what makes a gentleman

the web is full of gentleman advice.
to every established glossy trying to make a decent man out of you for some time now, over the last years there have bloomed hundreds and hundreds of online destinations exploring the New Man, from the way he dresses, eats, drinks, grooms, reads, listens and travels, to the way he earns and spends, dates and mates, builds and decorates, makes friends and influences peoples, among other.
and who would tell that in all that growing (over the top) polyphony of advice and inspiration, the best one i received last year came from no one else but… my grandmother.
she’s an English university professor, you see. and a true lady.
so when her beloved grandsons came to visit over Xmas, she sat down with me and Dima for a talk, and handed us this essay she is “particularly fond of”, and regularly translates with her students in class.
my grandmother, she knows. i snapped it for you, too:
