what would (i) do?
when i was a high school exchange student in the U.S., i remember seeing lots of kids with WWJD wristband. hm? i asked. What Would Jesus Do, a constant reminder.
you know them well
i think for advertising folk (and most of you in services, really), we desperately need a massive run of WWiD bands. as in What Would (i) Do.
i wore it – imaginary – throughout my carrier, and i recommend to all new generations of ad guys i talk to “to put on their hand”.
WWiD filters sloppy, fake work, and triggers a different kind of ownership of the stuff you do for your Clients. do it as if it’s yours and you do it for yourself.
it’s super-consuming, it’s always extra sweat and stress, and time invested, but it’s the only way to go from a clerk to a co-pilot position, to really produce smth worthwhile: if it was my brand, my money, my job at the line, WWiD?
so next time you see shitty work from your internal teams, push them for WWiD.
and next time, before presenting anything, unless you are ready to put it out there and put your name on it and your money behind it, go back and re-do.
simple acronym, huge difference.
