man created the ring
let’s get one thing straight: man created the ring. it wasn’t a woman that picked up the husband’s hammer and let it fall on the anvil to produce a hollow piece of metal. it was the man. the dude of the house. and he wore his rings with pride. some to remind him of the woman he loves and is bond to for the rest of his life, but some to remind him that he is king, or knight or trader. he used to seal his letters with it and pass it on to his eldest son.
time passed, castles fell to ruin, mountains shifted and somehow the ring became controversial for man. in the judeo-christian-western-tie-and-suitcase society it became somewhat awkward for a man to wear rings. sure, we are permissive towards rock stars and actors like tom waits and johnny depp, but they are not regular people like us, we don’t even notice the rocks on their fingers. it’s still more acceptable for a man today to have a tattoo than to wear rings.
and i’m not just saying that. i bought myself a couple of rings. man rings. i had no idea what kind i would like to wear, and my father never passed any on to me, so i was going blind and i bought a handful. a ten-finger-full. i also bought a wooden hand to put them on. i wanted to see what fits, which ones make my fist clench or my grasp steady. but i didn’t get that far because society gave me the look. you know the look. it says you should be doing whatever you call this in your own privacy and nobody should know about it. so my man ring curiosity and experiment quickly became about my manliness.
if it has to be a statement that i’m ring-curious that so be it. i will wear my rings openly until i decide wether i want to wear any in the first place. when i will be married i will wear a wedding ring. doh. but what if i want to remind myself that i’m married to courage or truth. maybe my pinky ring tells me just that. maybe my thumb ring yells i’m married to i-don’t-give-a-fuck. christian wedding rings are the greatest jewelry trade mark theft attribution in history.
as i’m writing this i’m wearing three rings. my writing seems limitless and they feel good. they give me speed and arrogance. i’m gonna take them off now.

Man, you have really bold rings! It takes a man to wear them!
perfect piece! :) congrats
